It looks like Berlin isn’t done with his spectacular break-ins, as Netflix has just green-lit the second season of the Money Heist spin-off.

As soon as Money Heist hit Netflix, it became a global phenomenon. After five seasons of the show and a South Korean remake, the time has come for a standalone story of the famous Berlin, a master burglar and fan-favourite bad boy.

The Professor’s brother is undoubtedly pretty controversial. On the one hand, he’s a skilled and composed thief. On the other, he’s an empathy-lacking narcissistic misogynist. Nonetheless, Berlin possessed a charisma that captured the attention of viewers. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Netflix wants to continue a story about his earlier adventures.

Berlin: Money Heist comes from Money Heist creators Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato. Here’s our guide on everything we know so far about the second season of the series.

Berlin: Money Heist season 2 potential release date

It’s not yet known when season 2 will appear on Netflix.

Plans to create the first season of Berlin were announced in November 2021, and the series premiered on 29 December 2023, more than two years later. According to rumours, we will have to wait also quite a long for season 2, as the shooting of the new episodes will allegedly not begin until 2025.

All indications are that Berlin will return in late 2025 or early 2026.

Berlin: Money Heist season 2 plot

Spoilers for season 1 below.

The past of Andrés de Fonollosa, Berlin’s real name, isn’t entirely unknown. In Season 1 of Money Heist, Tokyo mentions that he carried out almost 30 clever heists, with his biggest haul being 434 diamonds stolen in Paris. Meanwhile, in Season 5, viewers learned that he had been married five times.

The Money Heist spin-off sheds some more light on the burglar’s past. The first season focused on a spectacular Paris heist targeting the mentioned diamonds.

The theft was successful, and Berlin and his crew escaped with the loot. However, the thief promptly began planning the next robbery, which will probably become the second season’s theme.

Of course, the new episodes won’t lack romance, conflict and personal dramas.
