Which Roku should you buy?

If you don’t have a TV that supports 4K HDR, buy the Roku Express . This streamer is differentiated from its siblings with full-HD (1080p) resolution at 60fps and an infra-red remote controller. It is also the cheapest of the lineup.

Step up to Roku Express 4K if you want to benefit from 4K HDR streaming and a Bluetooth remote, though note that this doesn’t have a power button or volume controls.

The Roku Streaming Stick 4K has improved hardware providing the smoothest wireless and streaming experience, with support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The supplied remote is also capable of controlling your TV, and the dongle design is potentially easier to tuck out of sight, but otherwise this stick’s features match that of an Express 4K.

The Roku Streambar offers the additional benefit of being a speaker and media streamer combination.

Why we love Roku

Most useful for televisions without smart functionality, buying a Roku is going to be a lot cheaper than upgrading your TV. But even smart TVs can benefit from Roku, with its vast support for streaming channels and service-wide search function that makes unearthing must-see content a breeze.

You can control Roku using the bundled remote control, the free mobile app, or using your voice.
