Our Verdict

There’s a lot to like about this 13QT/12L air fryer oven – particularly its range of functions, ease of use and the great results it produces. But it won’t be the quietest appliance in your kitchen.

Cosori is a newer name in small appliances, only founded in 2017, with a much lower profile than brands such as Ninja. But that doesn’t mean that its products aren’t worth a look. We’ve reviewed its excellent drawer-style TurboBlaze Air Fryer and in this article, we’re testing its Air Fryer Oven, which has a 13QT/12L capacity and eleven cooking functions in all, with one of those being a rotisserie.

Let’s see what you’ll get for your money.

Design & Build

  • Two air fryer trays
  • Rotisserie basket and fork
  • 12-litre capacity

Cosori’s air fryer oven is a 13QT/12L stainless steel and aluminium appliance. It comes in silver or black, but you may not be able to get both models in all countries. We’re testing the black model, which has a matt finish, a front bevel and chrome handle on the pull-down door, which is equipped with a large viewing window.

The air fryer oven is designed to stand on your kitchen countertop on four short legs. It’s roughly square, coming in at a width of 32.9cm with a depth of 35.2cm and a height of 37.1 cm (13 x 14 x 14.5in), so it will fit underneath any standard kitchen cabinets. It also has a 100cm/39in cable length, so you have a fair amount of leeway in terms of distance to a power point.

Inside the internal cabinet and the packing foam, you’ll find a drip tray, a baking tray, two air fryer trays, a rotisserie basket, and a rotisserie spit with spiked fork and a handle. All the accessories have a non-stick coating and, aside from the drip tray, are dishwasher safe.

There’s also a quick reference guide, a manual and a recipe book with thirty recipes inside a glossy envelope – and the recipes are rather exciting, from blueberry and lavender tea to lemony chicken cutlets.

The touchscreen control pad spans the width of the oven and is fairly self-explanatory. There’s a power button on the left, followed by the rotisserie button, up and down buttons to set the heat, another set to choose cooking time, a button for the internal light, and then the start/pause button.

The touchscreen control panel is simple and easy to use.

Below this are the function buttons: air fry, roast, broil, bake, pizza, toast, reheat, warm, dry and proof. The twelfth function is rotisserie, which is the roast or air fry function, plus the activated rotisserie button.

Performance & Features

  • Straightforward functions
  • A proof setting for dough
  • High and low fan speed settings

Once the oven has been unpacked, set-up is easy. Wash the accessories, wipe out the internal cabinet, and run the air fryer function for 30-60 minutes, just to remove any possible manufacturing residues. After this, place the drip tray at the bottom of the oven with the handle, an arch in the tray, facing outwards.

Then choose the function you want, and the 1800W oven with a convection fan will flash up with default settings for that function. You can customise these using the temperature and time up and down buttons before you press start.

The air fry, roast, bake and pizza functions have a preheat feature, so you won’t want to load your food straight away – when the preheating is finished, the oven will beep three times and show “add food” on the display – but for all other functions, simply load your food and press start.

The tray is 22cm by 23cm (8.7 x 9in), which gives a decent cooking area. Cosori suggests the oven is suitable for cooking enough to feed five people, but we think that’s a little bit optimistic and would suggest that the oven will cook enough for two to three adults.

The air fryer oven has a cooking range of from 30°C/90°F (for proofing dough and yoghurt-making) to 220°C/430°F (air frying and roasting). Different cooking modes will also use a low or high fan speed and each one has a time range. The toast setting has the option to choose darkness level as well as a flip reminder.

I started off by air frying potatoes on 185°C/365°F for about 30 minutes. I was surprised by how quickly the potatoes cooked and how fluffy they were inside. It’s extremely convenient and gives very good results, so, yes, we can say that Cosori’s claim that the air fryer oven cooks food up to 50% faster seems valid. I didn’t use any oil or fat at all, so the crispiness was notable.

One thing I did notice was that the oven does make a fair amount of noise while operating, maybe about the same as a conversation at roughly 60dB. It isn’t a silent appliance and can be a little rattly, and it also vents quite a bit of steam out of the grilles at the side. So you need to consider how much you value those 30dB between the quiet of a library and the noise of an electric shaver.

The internal light and viewing window also allow you to check on the cooking process without opening the door – which, due to double glazing, does not get hot – and the cooking process will stop if you open the door.

Our next test was roasting chicken legs. We managed to load seven onto an air fry tray, and found they cooked thoroughly and well with a crispy skin within 35 minutes.

Our third test was fries in the rotisserie drum. We didn’t do a huge amount of food, but astonishingly, after only six minutes on 200°C/400°F, they were done.

Cosori suggests you can fit up to a whole 1.8 kg chicken, an 8-inch pizza, 900g French fries, or 18 chicken wings in the oven. We think this could be a little on the hopeful side, and you would need to employ two trays for the chicken wings, but it was surprising how many fries the rotisserie basket would hold.

Price & Availability

Should you buy the Cosori Air Fryer Oven?

The Cosori Air Fryer Oven is a compact air fryer with a lot of functionality that produces good results for a great price. We like it. Okay, it is a bit noisy and can be a little rattly, but it fits nicely on a countertop and doesn’t dominate your kitchen. If you’re in the market for a budget air fryer, we suggest you take a look.
