Our Verdict

Air frying fans and families alike will love how much cooking capacity Daewoo’s 11L Space Saving Split Drawer Air Fryer offers at a relatively pocket-friendly price. Its large drawer is big enough to fit in plenty of food while the grill compartment can squeeze in a small pizza. Thanks to separate, named controls for each, it’s easy to set and sync compartments to finish simultaneously too. However, you’ll need to allow plenty of worktop area – the slimmer stacked design may free up side space but its depth hogs surface at the back – and be prepared to reach for washing-up gloves afterwards.

Big air fryers can blow your budget, especially when they have more than one drawer or extra capabilities. Fortunately, Daewoo’s 11L Space Saving Split Drawer Air Fryer manages to be both large and versatile while ticking the box for affordability.

Its stacked design combines a six-litre drawer with a five-litre grill section underneath, as well as all the programmes you’d expect, sync option, internal lights, a top temperature of a sizzling 235°C and a reassuring three-year guarantee.

Design and Build

  • Double-decker style
  • 6-litre drawer
  • 5-litre grill

While it’s billed as space-saving, Daewoo’s 11L Split Drawer Air Fryer may still be a tough one to squeeze into a compact kitchen. Tall, with stacked compartments rather than side-by-side, it’s slimmer than some double-drawer models but deep on the worktop, coming in at H40.5 x W32.6 x D43cm. It’s also heavy – 9.15kg – so best to pick a spot for it to live permanently.

On top, you’ll find a generous six-litre drawer with a good amount of flat space on the cooking trivet inside and an element above, while underneath, the five-litre grill compartment has elements above and below with a fan at the back. Its baking tray is W21 x D23.5cm internally, so it can fit an 8-inch pizza, and there’s also a crumb tray to help keep the compartment clean.

Both compartments have windows and internal lights so you can keep an eye on cooking progress.

The controls are simpler to use than many double-drawer models. They consist of a separate set for each compartment rather than shared buttons, and are named rather than relying on icons.

Each compartment offers programmes ranging from baking and roasting to reheat, with the possibility of toggling times and temperatures for each, while hitting sync will hold cooking for the compartment with the least time to run, so both finish at the same time.

Performance and Features

  • Handy instructions for use
  • No dehydrate setting
  • Shake/turn reminders

Budget-friendly air fryers can be prone to poor instructions or a lack of guidance, but fortunately, this is something Daewoo’s 11L Space Saving Split Drawer Air Fryer doesn’t suffer from. There’s a table of each programme’s settings as well as guidance for cooking different types and amounts of food.

Although its lowest temperature only dips down to 120°C – meaning you won’t be able to use it to dehydrate or ferment – its high of 235°C offers additional heat for crisping up or rapid cooking. Another plus is that each programme has a shake or turn reminder halfway through, giving you a nudge to ensure more even results.

We began testing by cooking frozen hash browns on the baking tray in the lower compartment using its grill setting on the highest heat (235°C) for maximum crispiness. There was guidance for frozen foods, including family favourites chicken nuggets and fish fingers but not for this item, so we guessed at a time of 15 minutes based on available information.

Eight fitted comfortably on the tray. After time had elapsed, the hash browns had good browning at the edges and corners. They were crisp on the outside but very slightly chewy, suggesting that they may have benefitted from a slightly longer cooking time.

The guidance stated that fresh chips should be made in a maximum batch size of 350g but there’s space for more in the top compartment. We prepared a batch of 600g peeled, chipped, soaked and dried potato pieces lightly coated in ‘air fryer pure oil spray’ and these fitted evenly in a single layer.

We also chose to cook some in the lower compartment on the tray. Both compartments were set for 25 minutes at 180°C using the air fry programme and both alerted hallway through to be shaken/turned, though we decided to turn them a few times.

The upper compartment yielded the best results: some chips were pale and soft, but crisp at the ends, while others had good browning. In the lower compartment, the chips were paler overall and less crisp. Both would have benefitted from extended cooking, suggesting that you may have to test and adjust for the best results.

While you might be able to squeeze a small spatchcocked chicken into the upper compartment, realistically, it’s more suitable for pieces of poultry and meat. We were able to fit four whole chicken legs, only slightly overlapping, which were cooked on the roast programme’s default temperature of 190°C but raised to 26 minutes duration.

Turned once, they emerged with crisp, golden skin, moist meat with no pink remaining, and lots of fat run-off below the cooking trivet.

One of the most disappointing aspects of Daewoo’s 11L Space Saving Split Drawer Air Fryer concerns keeping it clean. None of its parts are dishwasher-safe, so you’ll have to wash it all by hand. The baking tray, cooking trivet and crumb tray were fairly straightforward but even after a thorough wash, the air fryer drawer had greasy residue on its window.

Over time, this would be likely to obscure visibility. We also disliked the suggestion of removing the silicone feet from the trivet each time it was washed as this felt like an extra fiddly step.

Price and Availability

Even at full price, this is a great value model for its size and feature set. You can compare it against our top recommendations in our round-ups of the best dual-drawer air fryers but we’ve also got advice on the best Ninja air fryers and the best air fryers overall if you want more options.

Should you buy Daewoo’s 11L Space Saving Split Drawer Air Fryer?

Considering Daewoo’s 11L Space Saving Split Drawer Air Fryer is one of the more affordable large-capacity models available, there’s a lot that’s better than you might assume. It’s easy to use, has greater flexibility than a single-drawer air fryer, and is slimmer than side-by-side twin-drawer appliances. And while it might not offer the low drying/fermenting temperatures of some, there’s a versatile selection of programmes.

However, dishwasher-safe parts would be a real improvement: if you have the option of dishwasher cleaning, degreasing an air fryer drawer and cooking trivet by hand is a chore that most won’t relish, especially in a busy family home.
