Eurosport no longer exists in the UK.
The sports channels and streaming services have merged with TNT Sports , which launched in 2023 to replace BT Sport.
Eurosport was home to Cycling, Tennis, Snooker and the Olympic Games (and Winter Games). All these sporting events will join the portfolio seen on TNT, which includes the Premier League , UEFA European Club Football, Premiership Rugby, MotoGP, UFC and Boxing.
How this affects you will depend on your TV package. In short, you’ll lose out if you’re a premium TV customer. However, if you’re with Freesat or Freeview, there’s another change that will work in your favour.
I’m a Sky/Virgin Media customer – what’s happened to Eurosport?
Prior to Friday 28 February, Sky and Virgin Media basic packages offer Eurosport channels, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, at no extra cost. That’s now changed.

Content that previously aired on these platforms has now moved to four TNT Sports channels which, unfortunately, cost extra.
That includes the Tour de France, the Australian Open , the Roland-Garros, Snooker and full unfiltered access to the Olympic Games. The Tour de France will air on ITV for free in 2025, but from 2026 Warner Bros. Discovery has exclusive rights, so you’ll have to pay for TNT Sports.
TNT Sports costs around £25 per month on Sky if you opt for BT Broadband . If not, it typically costs around £30 per month, though this can vary depending on the type of contract you choose and if any promotions are going on.
Virgin Media offers TNT sports as an add-on for £18 per month or included with some TV bundles. EE TV is around a similar price.
Cordbusters points out that neither Sky nor Virgin Media has announced any changes to their Sports TV packages, so there is a possibility that TNT Sports may be included in a more competitive bundle in the future.
I’m a Discovery+ Standard customer – what’s happened to Eurosport?
These are the old tiers for Discovery+:
- Discovery+ Basic – £3.99 per month for entertainment content, including the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and TLC
- Discovery+ Standard – £6.99 per month for all the above plus Eurosport content
- Discovery+ Premium – £30.99 per month for all the above plus TNT Sports content
The Standard tier has now been wiped from the portfolio. That also means that Sky customers will essentially get a Discovery+ downgrade from the Standard tier to the Essential one.
I’m a Freeview/Freesat user – why is the Eurosport exit good for me?
If you don’t pay for premium TV through providers such as Virgin Media or Sky, then you’ll actually gain new sports content from this shake-up.
Eurosport confirmed that the channel Quest will be expanding its free sports offering. This will include a new cycling show covering highlights from the season, the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a España, live coverage of Bennetts British Superbikes and new sports documentaries.
This is all in addition to the Sprint races from the 2025 MotoGP season, announced last year.
Of course, Sky and Virgin Media customers can also take advantage of these events – but it’s free TV customers who benefit the most here.

As far as we can see, Quest isn’t yet available on Freely .
