If you have the space for it, a dual-drawer air fryer is always your best bet. But what’s even better is a flexible dual-drawer model that can be converted into a single, large cooking zone.

But if you get yourself down to your local Aldi, you may be able to pick up its latest Ambiano model for £59.99. It’s a bargain price for this type of functionality and capacity. You can see it on the Aldi website , but you can only buy in store.

Aldi’s model has a very similar design and almost as much cooking space as the Ninja, with a whopping 9-litre capacity (or two 4.5-litre zones). That’ll give you enough room to bake a loaf cake if you want. I’ve tried it in the FlexDrawer – and it’s easier and faster than you’d think.

The cooking drawers can be programmed separately, just as with any dual-drawer air fryer , which means you can cook food at two individual temperatures and times. We also believe, after a close examination of images on the Aldi site, that the air fryer has the equivalent of Ninja’s clever ‘match’ and ‘sync’ functions, as we’ve spotted settings for ‘pair’ and ‘serve’.

If this is the case, ‘pair’ will allow you to copy the cooking settings across from one drawer to the other, which is a handy timesaver. ‘Serve’ is even better: it’ll allow you to input separate cooking times and temperatures in the drawers but have both dishes ready at the same time, to serve up at once.

The Aldi model has some other handy features that might tempt you:

  • Digital LED touchscreen controls
  • 10 preset programmes
  • Temperature range of 40°C-200°C in 5°C increments
  • 24-hour digital timer

It comes with a three year warranty. The only thing to mention is that as this model has one large drawer with a divider, it’s difficult to empty out a pile of chips onto a plate. So you might want to invest in this cheap and useful accessory for serving up.
