New information leaks seem to lend weight to the suggestion that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge smartphone could take the place of a potential Samsung Galaxy S26+.

Back in May we reported on the news that the then-new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge effectively spelled the end of the Galaxy Plus range, with Samsung’s new super-slim model effectively taking its place in the range.

Now a new report from WinFuture doubles down on those claims, as well as revealing some interesting new specifications.

Galaxy S26 Edge spec leak speaks volumes

The Samsung Galaxy S26 range is apparently being referred to internally as the Next Paradigm. That might sound lofty, but given that the Galaxy S25 was referred to internally as Paradigm it speaks to a more natural evolution.

It seems the new Galaxy S26 Edge will pack an improved 50MP ultra-wide camera, which sounds like quite the upgrade on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge’s 12MP equivalent.

Given that this camera spec was attributed specifically to the so-called NPA2 model and not the NPA1 (presumably the Samsung Galaxy S26), this rumour would seem to double as confirmation that there will be no Samsung Galaxy S26+ next year.

Traditionally, the Plus and non-Plus Galaxy S models have shared camera specifications. If there’s a difference between the two models in this respect, it suggests a completely different model is being introduced in between the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

More confirmation of a Plus-less 2026

This isn’t the only recent source to confirm (albeit in a round about way) that Samsung is ditching the Plus model.

South Korean website The Elec is also carrying a report to this effect, this time directly revealing the three-strong line-up to be comprised of the S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review 2 - 2

Luke Baker

We’re ever so slightly disappointed at this news. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge wasn’t the smash hit Samsung would have hoped for, with its super slim design compromising the phone’s battery life and camera capabilities (with no dedicated telephoto lens).

We rated the Samsung Galaxy S25+ higher in our review, calling it “The sweet spot in the Galaxy S25 lineup”. We also speculated that the lukewarm reception to the S25 Edge might even prompt the cancellation the Galaxy S26 Edge.

That doesn’t appear to be the case, but here’s hoping lessons have been learned for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge.
