No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, and that isn’t a typo. Google is currently offering an incredible trade-in deal for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro which means you could actually get paid for switching to one of its latest flagships.
Here’s how it works. Simply head to the Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro pages on the Google Store website and choose your colour and storage option. There’s already £200 off the regular model and £350 off the Pro.
Then, under ‘Trade in your phone’, click ‘Get estimate’. Select your phone from the list, including its storage size.
Confirm that it’s in good condition (it should power on, have no cracks and feature a functioning screen), then accept the terms and conditions and add the trade-in value to the purchase.
If you’re buying a 128GB Pixel 8 (currently £499) and trade in a 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max , you’ll get £645 of trade in value. It means you’re essentially getting paid £146 to switch to a phone that you might prefer anyway.
If you prefer the Pixel 8 Pro, the starting 128GB model is down to £649, meaning it’ll cost you just £6.
However, it’s worth noting that you won’t get the money instantly. After you complete the purchase, you’ll be sent a kit to post the phone you’re trading in to Google.
Only after it verifies its condition will you get the trade-in value. This will refund the cost of the phone you bought, with any leftover money available as Google Store credit.
Also keep in mind that you’ll need to act fast as this limited time offer ends at 11.59pm UK time on 6 August. Once you’ve completed your purchase, you’ll then have 30 days to send your old device to Google.
