For all the many rumours surrounding Google’s next smartphone generation – and we’ll be discussing two more in due course – the company still hasn’t mentioned the phone by name. Or at least, it hadn’t until now.

Over on the official Made by Google YouTube channel, Google has released another of its jokey videos taking a pop at Apple. In case you missed it, iOS 26 looks to be borrowing several new features from Android on Pixel phones.

Pixel 10 – it’s official

The video itself features an iPhone and a Google Pixel 9 Pro talking to one another in a podcast set-up (yeah, not the strongest concept), attempting to deflect from Apple’s apparent magpie tendencies.

None of it’s particularly notable until the end of this one minute video, when the iPhone character asks “so, what are you working on for Pixel 10”.

All of which sounds remarkably innocuous, but this appears to be the first time Google has officially confirmed the Pixel 10 name.

Pixel 10 new rumours

Enough of the silliness. We promised you more Pixel 10 rumour news, so here we go.

According to Android Headlines , Google’s next smartphone line-up is going to come with a faster form of ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The Pixel 9 was the first generation to go ultrasonic, resulting in a faster, more secure, and more reliable biometric authentication process for most people. Now the Pixel 10 is going to improve matters further.

In separate news, the same outlet claims that the Pixel 10 is adopting ‘tele-macro’ camera technology, which uses the telephoto camera to provide super-close-up shots.

Apparently, you’ll still be able to use the ultra-wide for macros, as it’s capable of getting even closer to the subject. The tele-macro provision will be a little further removed, but presumably superior quality.

The Pixel 10 is expected to be announced on 20 August, with a release date of 28 August. See our Google Pixel 2025 Event Guide .
