The Google Pixel 10 smartphone could get a major new AI feature, according to recent rumours.

Google has long been rumoured to be working on a next-level personal assistant app powered by AI, and it could finally bear fruit with this year’s Pixel 10 range.

Formerly referred to as ‘Pixie’, the new AI assistant will apparently find a place in the Google Pixel 10 line-up under the name of Pixel Sense.

Google’s Pixel Sense history

Android Authority makes the claim in a fresh report that this contextually aware assistant was originally intended to launch with the Pixel 9 .

Now a so-called “source inside Google” claims that Pixel Sense will finally roll out with the next generation of Google flagship.

Google’s one-sentence pitch for Sense is apparently “Get the most personalised experience based on the things you do on your Pixel.”

Powered by apps

This references the core idea for Pixel Sense, in that it will draw its information from right across the suite of Google apps – Calendar, Chrome, Gmail, Recorder, YouTube etc. – when it makes its recommendations.

The report claims the Pixel Sense assistant for the Google Pixel 10 will also be able to factor media files such as images, text, screenshots and even AI-generated content into its thinking.

“Pixel Sense processes your screenshots to identify metadata and learn from it,” reads another alleged internal directive.

The new assistant will seemingly learn how you use your phone and adapt to your interests.

Pixel Sense to run locally

As for Pixel Sense’s wider compatibility, it’s interesting to note that it will apparently run complete on-device, making it usable even offline and maintaining data privacy.

Presumably the Google Pixel 9 Pro and its bumper allotment of RAM (16GB) will equip it well for the feature, but it’ll be interesting to learn the cut-off point for Pixel Sense compatibility.

Google’s compact Gemini Nano AI model will presumably come into play here.

Next up for Google on the Pixel front is the launch of the Pixel 9a , which is heavily rumoured to be launching soon.
