Pixel Watch 4: In summary

The Pixel Watch 4 was announced by Google alongside the Pixel 10 series of phones at the big August Made by Google launch event in New York.
The smartwatch takes on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series , OnePlus Watch 3 and the Apple Watch Series 11, among others.
While the device appears to look almost unchanged from the Pixel Watch 3 , there are a number of key upgrades, potentially making it one of the best smartwatches of 2025.
Google has made subtle but important improvements to the design to finally make it repairable – and that’s just the start. The screen is also bigger and brighter, charging is now on the side and faster, plus there are plenty of new software features.
All this comes at the same price, and there’s a new colour, but there’s a bit of a wait for the Pixel Watch 4 to arrive. We’ll take you through all the key upgrades, when you can get your hands on one and how much it costs.

Pixel Watch 4: What’s new?

There are a lot of upgrades for the Pixel Watch 4, which we’ll dive into shortly, but here’s a specs table showing the core specs of the 41- and 45mm sizes for Google’s new smartwatch.
Repairable design and a new colour
The Pixel Watch 3 brought along the much-requested two sizes, and the Pixel Watch 4 fixes another big issue. Fixes being an apt word because the smartwatch is now repairable.
Google says it has rebuilt the design from the ground up so that, should the unthinkable happen, you can get your Pixel Watch 4 repaired. You’ll be able to get a new screen or a fresh battery.
How much these repairs will cost is unknown, but it’s still good news. The Pixel Watch 4 also comes in new colours with new straps. The main new addition is Moonstone, which matches the Pixel 10 Pro phones, and you can also get Polished Silver, Matte Black and Champagne Gold.
However, note that the gold colourway is exclusive to the 41mm model, while Moonstone is limited to the 45mm.
Longer battery life and faster charging
We’re always asking for longer battery life, no matter if it’s a phone, a smartwatch or otherwise. Google has delivered a generational improvement, with the 41mm Pixel Watch 4 now lasting 30 hours and the 45mm going up to 40 hours.
In battery saver mode, this extends to two or three days, respectively. It’s good, though worth noting that rivals like the OnePlus Watch 3 can already go longer.
You’ll also be able to keep the Pixel Watch 4 topped up more easily. A new Quick Charge Dock is 25% faster than before and moves the charging pogo pins to the side (there’s still no Qi wireless charging).
It means you can supposedly get a 50 percent charge in just 15 minutes, and the smaller 41mm model can hit 100% in 45 minutes. The 45mm takes a little longer at 60 minutes with its larger battery.
The dock also means it’s easier to drop the watch on for charging and gives you a good view of the charging progress, time and more.
Actua 360 screen
With the Pixel Watch 4 getting a rebuild, the device has a new Actua 360 screen, and this is an upgrade on its predecessor in various ways.
The headline feature is a 50% jump in brightness to 3000 nits, which will make it easier to view and use outdoors in bright sunlight. However, there’s a lot more here.
This new screen is domed (the first of its kind) and sits under a custom 3D Gorilla Glass 5 cover with a 16% smaller bezel, meaning the ‘active area’ is 10% bigger.
Advanced tracking and new software features
The upgrades don’t stop there as the Pixel Watch 4 has a new processor in the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 and a new Cortex M55 co-processor, which are powering various advancements.
Various ways the Pixel Watch 4 tracks your activity have been upgraded, too, with more accurate sleep tracking, better skin temperature and the most accurate heart rate monitor yet (according to Google). There’s also dual-band GPS for more accurate route tracking, plus automatic activity tracking.
As you would expect, the wearable comes with Wear OS 6, Google’s latest software for smartwatches, and this comes with Gemini built in as your new digital assistant.
Part of the new software suite is a new personal AI health coach built on Gemini (of course). Google says this will provide “proactive fitness and sleep coaching and on-demand guidance, uniquely tailored to your goals and real-life circumstances based on metrics from your Pixel Watch.”
This will launch as a preview for Fitbit and Pixel Watch users in the US in October, along with a completely redesigned Fitbit app.
When is the Google Pixel Watch 4 release date?

Though the Pixel 10 phones mostly went on sale on 28 August, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 4 came later on 9 October .
This may have been down to its new repairable design and supply chain issues, but you can order one now that the wait is over.

Like the Pixel 10 phones, there’s no change to the Pixel Watch 4 pricing compared to last year.
This means you can pick one up for £349/$349 if you’re happy with the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model of the 41mm size.
Things ramp up if you want additional LTE connectivity, and, of course, the larger 45mm model is more expensive, too.
