In summary

  • Some Pixel 10 users report static-filled screens
  • Affecting all three Pixel 10 models
  • Google directly responding to complaints

Pixel 10 smartphone users are reporting a strange display glitch, which has prompted a response from Google.

Over on the Pixel Phones subreddit , some who picked up a Google Pixel 10 on launch day have encountered a strange issue with the display. It seems said display randomly displays a load of multi-coloured static.

This particular user encountered the issue when opening up WhatsApp. After a subsequent phone lock and unlock, it disappeared.

Another user reports it happening while scrolling through YouTube, this time necessitating a hard reset.

The screen static problem seems to be affecting all three Pixel 10 phones to date, including the Google Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Google fesses up (kind of)

The good news is that Google appears to be interacting with any such complaints on the subreddit and messaging the affected customers directly. It’s not a direct admission of a fault, but it’s reassuring to see it responding so actively.

Whether this is a wider problem that requires a more sweeping update remains to be seen. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear to be affecting the wider operation of the Pixel 10 handsets, so it could be a relatively quick and easy fix via the next update.

Given Google’s swift response to the matter, anyone affected would be advised contact Google via its Pixel Phone support page .

No need to panic

Such early teething problems are hardly unusual in a new phone release, of course.

While the Pixel 10 series looks and feels a lot like its predecessor, it’s worth remembering that Google switched to an all-new Tensor G5 chip based on a new TSMC production method.

The Pixel 10 also debuted Google’s Material 3 Expressive design language, with fresh icons, fonts, and layouts.

Overall, we’ve been enjoying out time with Google’s latest phones. Our Mobile Editor, Anyron Copeman, even called the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL “the best all-round phone you can buy right now”.
