Details concerning the core components of the forthcoming Google Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch have leaked, and it’s not looking particularly exciting.
According to Android Authority , Google’s next wearable will run on exactly the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip as the Google Pixel Watch 3 and the Pixel Watch 2 before it.
We’ve heard this rumour before, with one recent report suggesting that Qualcomm will finally get around to replacing the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip in 2026.
It’s also been claimed that Google is working on its own custom Tensor wearable chip , which will be ready in time for the Pixel Watch 5.
With this older, less efficient processor onboard, it’ll be down to the battery itself (alongside Google’s software tweaks) for any stamina improvements.

Pixel Watch 4 battery increase
Thankfully, it looks like Google is planning just such a thing. The report claims that both the 45mm and the 41mm models of the Pixel Watch 4 will be receiving larger batteries.
According to the report, the smaller Pixel Watch 4 model will pack a 327mAh cell, which marks a 7% increase on the Pixel Watch 3’s 307mAh battery.
The larger Pixel Watch 4, meanwhile, will run a 459mAh battery – a whole 9% bigger than the 41mm Pixel Watch 3’s 420mAh cell.
We also learn that the Pixel Watch 4 will support faster charging of those larger batteries, though no specific speeds are mentioned.
In our review of the Pixel Watch 3, we praised the larger battery capacity of the brand new 45mm, but there was still work to be done on the smaller model. This increase could help address that latter point while improving the 45mm model’s stamina yet further.
What the Pixel Watch series really needs, of course, is that newer processor – especially with the Galaxy Watch 8 running on a more efficient chip, and reportedly set to get an even better provision for next year’s update.
