Vampire stories are experiencing a comeback. Sinners, the latest attempt to refresh the genre, has stormed the box office, earning over $360 million worldwide and a re-release in IMAX 70mm theatres. It’s now one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time.
Ryan Coogler’s film tells the story of twin brothers, Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan playing both roles), who return to their hometown in the Mississippi Delta. After years of working for Al Capone, they leave their crime past behind them and decide to open a juke joint for the local Black community. As it turns out, they have to handle not only the racist laws and the Ku Klux Klan but also bloodthirsty vampires.
With action scenes and an impressive soundtrack of blues, folk and themes composed by Ludwig Göransson, Sinners is best viewed in the cinema. However, if you’re already in the mood for rewatching, here’s when the film will drop on home media.
