How to remove an existing Google account on Android

Before you can add your new Google account, you’ll need to remove the existing one. Here’s how:

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app.
  2. Scroll down and select ‘Passwords and accounts’ or similar.
  3. Tap the Google account you want to remove.
  4. Tap ‘Remove account’ and confirm the action.
  5. You may need to enter your device’s password or PIN for security purposes.

In all Google apps that are tied to your Google account you will now be able to switch between accounts by tapping your profile icon at the top right and clicking the downward triangle next to the currently selected account. You will also receive notifications for both accounts, unless you change the default settings.
