Despite being a sequel (and being released whilst the pandemic is still ongoing, no less), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 managed to storm ahead of the first movie to become the highest-grossing videogame adaptation film of all time.
The introduction of fan favourites Miles ‘Tails’ Prower (played by Colleen O’Shaughnessey) and Knuckles the Echidna (played by Idris Elba) set a precedent for where this franchise will go in the future – plus it is a great flick for all the family.

How to watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for free in the US
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is now available to stream on Paramount+ in the US. Paramount+ also has access to the likes of Star Trek: Discovery season four , as well as the new live-action Halo series .
The Essential tier costs $4.99 per month and comes with ads and a more limited content library. Meanwhile, the Premium tier costs $9.99 per month, is mostly ad-free (except for live TV and a few shows) and comes with local news station access and the ability to download content.
Paramount+ is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, the Nordics, Latin America and the Middle East. That means that if you are outside of these countries, you may be missing out.

How to watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for free in the UK & abroad

- Purchase an online gift card from an online retailer such as Walmart (you can find other options here ). $25 is the minimum, which will get you nearly four months worth of ad-supported viewing. You may also need to get a US address and phone number to sign up, but you can get hold of those for free online
- Go to the Paramount Plus homepage and sign up for an account with an email address, password and any US Zip Code – but don’t enter any payment information on the next page
- Go to the Paramount Plus gift card page and input the pin on your email gift receipt
- Choose the subscription plan you want to sign up for
How to watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on VOD and DVD/Blu-ray

In the UK, the film is currently available to pre-order via Google Play and YouTube for £11.99. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 isn’t yet available on DVD/Blu-ray – it will release on 9 August 2022.
