Lenovo is giving the whole gaming tablet thing another stab, a fresh teaser video has confirmed.

Over on Chinese social network Weibo (via 9to5Google ), Lenovo has posted a teaser video and a few details concerning a so-called Legion Y700 tablet.

This will seemingly be the latest compact gaming tablet in the Lenovo Legion Tab line-up, which only saw the Legion Tab (Gen 3) launched a couple of months ago.

If that previous Legion tablet seemed strangely outdated straight off the bat, with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, this new fourth-gun device looks ready to rock. According to the (machine translated) blurb, it comes equipped with a “new Snapdragon”, which we take to mean the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

It’s got a snazzy new white finish to its squared-off design, which is now apparently both “thinner” and “lighter” than before. This Lenovo Legion Tab (Gen 4) also notably drops from a dual camera array to a single one.

Otherwise, you appear to be getting the same 8.8-inch 165Hz display.

This being 2025, there’s plenty of talk about AI, with Lenovo claiming that its new gaming tablet will feature “AI combat support”. In-game AI assistance is present in both the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro and the Redmagic 10 Pro gaming phones, so we’re not surprised to see it here.

Are gaming tablets even a thing?

Previous reports suggest that the new Lenovo Legion gaming tablet will launch in May. What remains to be answered is the question we posed a year ago: Who is it for?

Neither as portable and convenient as a gaming smartphone, nor as gamer-friendly or downright exciting as a handheld console (especially in the wake of the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement), we remain to be convinced that the gaming tablet is a worthwhile pursuit.

With that said, the Nubia Redmagic Nova (pictured above) was a decent Android tablet with great performance at a competitive price. Hopefully Lenovo can offer something even more compelling with its new Legion tablet.
