As is usual, LG has announced some new mid-range K series phones with no pricing, release date or availability. That said it’s good to see the somewhat beleaguered mobile division at LG still cranking out handsets. We hope it’s doing something right on its way back to profitability.
The K61, K51S and K41S are all quad-camera smartphones, though at this level of specs it’s usually only two of the cameras that do most of the work, with others for things like depth perception. LG said the phones are “for consumers eager to upgrade from their mediocre smartphone experience while staying within budget.”
So if you are having a mediocre smartphone experience right now, boom, here you go.
The best spec phone here is the K61 with a 48Mp sensor the highest resolution camera in any LG phone ever, though that’s not always a sign of the best quality. The phone has a 6.5in 20:9 display and a top left corner cut out front facing camera
All three phones have 4,000mAh batteries, rear mounted fingerprint sensors and headphone jacks. LG did not say what version of Android the phones will be running, so it won’t be 10 – hopefully it’s Android 9 Pie with an outside chance of an update somewhere down the line.
We still get misty eyed when we think about the LG G3 with its 1440p panel in 2014. How far LG has fallen in the eyes of the public – an unfair perception given the relative strength of phones like the V40 in recent times.
LG said the three new K series phones “will be available starting in the second quarter in the Americas followed by key select markets in Europe and Asia.”
