It really is the height of phone season with launches from Samsung, Nothing and OnePlus in the space of a week, but is Motorola about to announce something completely different?

With Samsung Unpacked done and dusted, we thought the Pixel 10 would be the next big phone launch, but it looks like Motorola might have something up its sleeve.

Update 15 July: Motorola has now teased the event on 5 August, confirming the collaboration with Swarovski. The short trailer appears to show a special edition of the Razr. More info below.

Evan Blass, aka evleaks, posted a somewhat cryptic post on X simply stating “RAZR-ovski” with the date 5 August.

It would seem the ‘ovski’ is short for Swarovski, the well-known brand for crystals, rhinestones and such like.

Leaked images of the device have surfaced via Ytechb , showing the design. It’s supposedly called ‘Ice Blue’ and appears to have a square quilted pattern rear cover with crystals where the lines meet, as well as a single large crystal on the hinge and three smaller ones next to the cover screen. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the Xiaomi 15 Diamond Edition .

This makes sense considering Motorola has collaborated with the company before on some wireless earbuds. The Moto Buds Loop come in a special edition covered in Swarovski crystals (see below in all their glittery glory).

These sparkly headphones will have a certain appeal, though you wouldn’t catch me dead in them – and it seems like the Razr flip phone is next in line for the diamanté treatment.

Honor did something similar with the V Purse concept phone a while ago, but hopefully, Motorola can do a better job.

It’s unlikely this will be a completely new model, however. Motorola only recently launched the Razr 60 series , so this will be special or limited edition. Oddly, it doesn’t appear to be the Razr 60 Ultra , but the regular model instead.

The question is, does anyone want a phone covered in tiny crystals? I can’t relate, but I’m a man in his late 30s who doesn’t even like white phones, so that’s perhaps why.

A lot of ’90s and Y2K fashion trends have been popular again recently, particularly with Gen Z. Bejewelled flip phones were very much one of the ‘in’ phone trends of the early 2000s, so what do I know? Maybe this is the next thing to go viral on TikTok following the BlackBerry revival .
