The budget smartphone market is heating up, and Motorola has just entered the fray with two new offerings latest offerings, the Motorola G35 5G and Motorola G55 5G.
These phones join other models in the Edge 50 series and are designed to challenge the dominance of Samsung’s Galaxy A series, particularly the recently launched Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A25 5G .
Motorola aims to combine stylish design, powerful performance and affordability, making the G35 and G55 strong contenders in the race to be among the best budget phones .

In terms of design, Motorola has not compromised on aesthetics. The G55 comes in statement colours Forest Grey, Smoky Green, and Twilight Purple, while the G35 is available in Leaf Green, Guava Red, and Sage Green.
Both devices feature a water-repellent design (though no official IP rating ) and are available in either a smooth matt finish or a soft vegan leather option, making them not only attractive but also durable when combined with Gorilla Glass 3 on the front.
The Motorola G35 5G and Motorola G55 5G also boast impressive displays. The G55 features a 6.49-inch FHD+ LCD display, while the G35 goes a bit larger with a 6.72-inch screen.
Both devices should offer bright colours and crisp visuals, with the G35 standing out thanks to its Display Colour Boost technology and a peak brightness of 1000 nits, ensuring visibility even in bright outdoor settings.
Additionally, the 120Hz refresh rate on both models makes for smoother scrolling and a more fluid viewing experience than a regular 60Hz panel.

Under the hood, the Motorola G55 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 processor, which should ensure strong everyday performance. With up to 12GB of RAM, multitasking is likely to be a key strength.
The Motorola G35 5G, on the other hand, runs on the UNISOC T760 processor and offers up to 8GB of RAM, though this should be enough for non-demanding tasks.
Both devices are equipped with a 5000mAh battery, designed to keep you powered throughout the day. The G55 supports 30W TurboPower charging, while the G35 offers 18W fast charging, though neither include a charger in the box.
Both devices feature a 50Mp main camera with quad-pixel technology and autofocus. An 8Mp ultrawide camera allows for group shots and expansive landscapes, while a 16Mp selfie camera with Face Retouch mode ensures that your selfies always look their best.
The G55 goes a step further with a macro vision lens that’s designed to capture intricate details, and Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), which helps eliminate blur in your photos and ensure more stable video.

The Motorola G35 5G will be on sale starting from late September in the UK with a starting price of €199/£149.99, while Motorola G55 5G will be available from early September in the UK with a starting price of €249/£199.99.
While their key rivals, the Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A25 5G , offer solid value for money too, the Motorola G35 and G55 bring several advantages that make them worthy opponents.
