As expected and promised, Motorola has unveiled the new Razr 60 series of foldable flip phones at its launch event in New York.

Tech Advisor was in attendance, so here’s everything you need to know about the Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra, with the latter being dubbed “the most powerful flip phone in the world”.

Note that these phones have different names in the US, where they are called the Razr (2025) and Razr Ultra (2025). Even more confusing is that Motorola used to call the Ultra model the Razr+ for previous generations in the US.

Awkward split naming system aside, here’s what you need to know about the latest Galaxy Z Flip 7 rivals, including release date, prices and specs.

Motorola also announced the Edge 60 series as well as the Moto Watch Fit . You can read our hands-on review of the Razr 60 Ultra and comparison between the Razr 60 and 60 Ultra now.

When will the Motorola Razr 60 phones be released?

Motorola announced the new Razr flip phones at a New York launch event on 24 April.

We’re still waiting on final confirmation, but the firm has said they will go on sale today in “selected countries”. Even if that doesn’t include the UK and US, it won’t be long before you’ll be able to get your hands on one.

Head to the Motorola website to be among the first.

How much do the Motorola Razr 60 phones cost?

When it comes to pricing information, we only have limited starting prices for each phone at this stage:

  • Razr 60 – €799
  • Razr 60 Ultra – £1,099.99/€1,299

What are the Motorola Razr 60 specs & features?

You might already know you want one of the new Razr phones, but if you’re not sure, here are the highlights of what’s new and improved for 2025.

Design

While Motorola has stuck with a familiar design as previous generations, the Razr 60 series gets some design tweaks to help it stand out.

Importantly, there’s more choice, with the regular Razr 60 coming in three finishes: vegan-leather, a ‘nylon-inspired finish’, or lightweight Acetate. There are four Pantone colours to choose from, too: Gibraltar Sea, Spring Bud, Lightest Sky and Parfait Pink.

The Razr 60 Ultra is even more exciting in this area as along with vegan-leather and a satin-inspired finish, there are new wood and Alcantara options. The first is made from real wood (like Motorola used to offer back in the Moto Maker days) and sourced from FSC-certified forests.

Alcantara – which Microsoft has used on various Surface devices and accessories – is a soft material like suede and this is the first time it’s been used on a phone. It might look and feel luxurious, but it might not be able to withstand wear and tear like the others.

The colours on offer for the Razr 60 Ultra are: Scarab, Mountain Trail, Cabaret, Rio Red.

Durability

Not only do the phones look better, they are also stronger according to Motorola.

The new titanium-reinforced hinge is four times stronger than surgical-grade stainless steel and can withstand up to 35% more folds than its predecessor. There’s also new Ultra Thin Glass, which is 30% smoother and both models have an IP48 dust and water resistant rating.

Compared to the Razr 50 Ultra , that means there’s now proper dust protection, albeit not the full level found on IP68 devices. Water resistance isn’t lacking though – you can submerge your phone in freshwater without issue.

Battery & Charging

There’s good news for those who want longer battery life (who doesn’t?) as Motorola is touting over 36 hours on a single charge for the Razr 60 Ultra. This is largely down to the 4700mAh battery which is 700mAh bigger than before.

The phone also gets faster charging when it does die, at 68W TurboPower (with charger in the box), and it doesn’t stop there as there’s also 30W wireless charging. Those are up from 45- and 15W so are sizeable upgrades.

The Razr 60 gets a 4500mAh (that’s 300mAh bigger) but sticks on 30W wired and 15W wireless charging.

AI, of course

It’s 2025 so apparently it wouldn’t be right if a new phone didn’t have AI sprinkled around like icing sugar on a cake. To this end, Motorola offers Moto AI with a range of different features if you like that kind of stuff.

Not all features are brand new but if they’re not, they’ve been improved after customer feedback, says the firm. You get features like Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, Remember This, Next Move, Image Studio and more.

If you’re really into AI then you’ll love the new dedicated AI Key on the Ultra model. A physical button to quickly access all that AI goodness.

Displays

As you might expect, this tech hasn’t changed all that much from before, but the Razr 60 series does appear to have some of the best in the business in these areas.

The Ultra has a 7-inch pOLED internal screen with 20% smaller bezels and a 4-inch cover display. It’s also the “world’s first flip phone with a Pantone Validated display, so users can enjoy authentic and vivid images that are true-to-life.”

It’s also the first flip phone to come with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic.

Over on the regular Razr 60 you get 6.9-inch pOLED and 3.6-inch screens.

Cameras

The Razr 60 Ultra is the first flip phone with a triple 50Mp camera setup. The Telephoto camera from the previous gen has been swapped for an ultrawide with Motorola saying Super Zoom on the main sensor ensures you can get shots of far away subjects.

Meanwhile, the regular Razr 60 features a 50Mp main camera alongside a 13Mp ultrawide and a ‘Macro Vision lens’ for “added creativity”.
