Speculation about the next generation of mid-range phones from Nothing has been circulating in the tech world for some time.
The wait is over, however, as Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. Both models target users who appreciate flagship features for less, but differ slightly in their specifications.
Here’s everything you need to know.
When will the Nothing Phone (3a) be released?
Both the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro were unveiled at an event on 4 March 2025 . There’s no word on when (or if) we’ll see the Phone (3a) Plus launch, while the more premium Phone (3) is likely to appear later in the year.

For context, the Phone (2a) also made its debut in March 2024. However, while the Phone (3a) Pro launched alongside the standard model, the Phone (2a) Plus didn’t arrive until August 2024, so there’s a chance that the Phone (3a) Plus could be revealed later in the year.
Still, it’s very likely that the Pro model will completely replace the Plus variant.
How much will the Nothing Phone (3a) cost?
While the regular Phone (3a) starts at £329, its more high-end variant costs £379. The Phone (3a) Pro, on the other hand, represents an outlay of £449.
For context, the Phone (2a) started at £319, while the (2a) Plus cost £399 at launch. Although the base price is £10 more and the Pro model costs more than the Plus from last year, both models are still positioned as mid-range phones .
What specs and features will the Nothing Phone (3a) have?
Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, and you can find their specs below.
Design
Nothing is known for its distinctive transparent design language and Glyph Interface on the back of its phones, and the Phone (3a) series retains this unique aesthetic.
Both phones features the sleek, minimalist look that has become Nothing’s hallmark. However, they slightly differ when it comes to the camera design.
The Phone (3a) features a more minimalist camera island in the form of a horizontal pill, creating a row of three cameras. Meanwhile, the Phone (3a) Pro experiments with a separate, independent lens layout in a prominently featured oval frame.

There’s also a brand new Essential Key button on the right side of the phones. It activates ‘Essential Space’, a new AI-powered hub for taking notes or voice memos on the go.
The series upgrades to IP64 rating for water and dust resistance, also swapping the back panel from polycarbonate to glass.
While the Phone (3a) is available in black, white and a never-before-seen blue finish, the Phone (3a) Pro is only available in black and silver.
Display
The Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro both have 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED displays, with support for 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, Ultra HDR and a max brightness of 3000 nits.
Performance
The Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. This marks a departure from the MediaTek processors used in the Phone (2a) and its Plus variant.
This chipset is a solid mid-range performer, offering a prime core clocked at 2.5 GHz, three performance cores at 2.4 GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz.

Nothing
Benchmark scores for the A059 model (believed by GSMArena to be the Phone (3a)) suggest strong performance, with Geekbench results of 1,149 (single-core) and 2,813 (multi-core).
The regular model is available with options of 8GB/128GB or 12GB/256GB, while the Pro model only comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Cameras
The Phone (3a) Pro features a 50Mp main camera with OIS and autofocus, a 50Mp periscope lens with 3x optical zoom and 60x ultra zoom, and an 8Mp ultrawide sensor. There’s also a 50Mp front-facing camera.
Meanwhile, the regular Phone (3a) opts for the same main and ultrawide cameras, but switches the periscope lens for a telephoto achieving only 2x optical zoom and 30x ultra zoom. The selfie camera also has been swapped for a 32Mp one.

Nothing
Both phones support 4K recording at 30FPS, 1080p recording at 30- or 60FPS, slo-mo at 1080p at 120FPS and Time Lapse at 4K or 1080p.
Battery & Charging
Both phones pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 50W wired charging. Nothing claims the phones charge from 0-50% in just 19 minutes, and reach 100% in 56 minutes.

Nothing
As a reminder, the Phone (2a) offers 5000mAh battery and support for 45W wired charging, while the Plus variant has the same battery but increases charging to 50W.
Software
In addition, the Pro model supports eSIM functionality, a first for the brand, offering the options of one physical SIM card and one eSIM or two physical SIM cards. The regular Phone (3a) offers dual SIM only.
