One Piece season 2 at a glance:

  • The second season will premiere in spring 2026
  • Plenty of new characters will appear in the show’s second instalment
  • Netflix has already published the first teaser trailer

We have good news for fans of Monkey D. Luffy – we know when One Piece will return to Netflix! The streaming giant not only released the first teaser for the upcoming season but also announced the season 2 premiere date. But that’s not all – information about the third instalment of the pirate series is also emerging.

In the past, Netflix hasn’t had much luck with live-action anime adaptations. The infamous Death Note film from 2017 was met with criticism, and Cowboy Bebop was cancelled after just one season. However, one production has bucked the trend.

One Piece, a live-action series based on a manga by Eiichirō Oda, has been a surprising success. According to Netflix’s website , the show received as many as 18.5 million views in the first weekend after its premiere.

The secret of its popularity is maintaining the spirit of the original as well as great casting, inventive scenography and excellent CGI. It’s no wonder that fans are eagerly looking forward to the show’s next instalment. Here is everything you need to know about the second season of One Piece.

When will One Piece season 2 be released?

According to Netflix, One Piece will return for season 2 on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. The filming for the new instalment was wrapped in February 2025.

The second instalment of the show is titled ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line , which refers to the new territory that Monkey D. Luffy and his crew will enter.

What is the plot of One Piece season 2?

Eiichirō Oda’s manga is one of the most extensive Japanese series – it consists of over 1,000 chapters, compiled in 106 volumes. In the show’s first season, Netflix adapted only 95 chapters, meaning there is still plenty of material for the showrunners to cover.

According to the synopsis, in season 2 Luffy and his friends will have to face “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet.” What’s more:

Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.

Season 1 covered the formation of the crew, setting common goals, and fighting with the Marines. In season 2, the serious treasure hunt will likely begin, with the Straw Hat Pirates deciding to travel to the Grand Line. The journey likely won’t be peaceful: the crew must make their way through a strip of sea called the Calm Belt, populated by giant beasts.

What’s more, the young pirates will probably be tracked by Vice Admiral Garp and the Marines. The Straw Hat Pirates may have to fight with the sinister organisation called the Baroque Works. As you may remember, Roronoa Zoro killed one of its members in the first episode of the series.

It’s also possible that in season 2, we will again meet more old enemies, such as Captain Alvida and Buggy the Clown.

Who is starring in One Piece season 2?

In the second season, the following cast members will reprise their roles:

  • Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
  • Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro
  • Emily Rudd as Nami
  • Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
  • Taz Skylar as Sanji

During Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event in May 2025, Netflix presented one of the most adorable and loved characters of the One Piece universe – Tony Tony Chopper . The fluffy creature is a reindeer who ate a Devil Fruit that lets him change into a human hybrid. Chopper is a doctor who wants to travel the world to gain as much knowledge as possible, and has an affinity for both sweets and naps.

In the Netflix series, he will be voiced by Mikaela Hoover (Beef, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Superman).

Below you can watch the first clip with the cute, but fierce creature:

As Mikaela Hoover stated ( via Netflix Tudum ):

What excited me about playing Chopper is the tug of war between his standoffishness and his huge heart. He tries so hard to hide his emotions and put on a tough exterior, but underneath, he’s a big softy, and his love can’t help but come out. I believe there is a little Chopper in all of us. We all want to be loved and accepted. We go to great lengths to keep the people that we love safe. There’s a purity to his nature that reminds us of what’s good in the world.

One Piece manga creator, Eiichiro Oda, praised the Chopper look in his social media post .

In season 2, Sophia Anne Caruso (The School for Good and Evil) will play teenage Miss Goldenweek, Anton David Jeftha (Happiness Is) will star as K.M. a pirate, while Mark Penwill (Warrior) will appear as Chess, Wapol’s minister of defense.

The second season will also feature Rigo Sanchez (Outer Banks) as Dragon, the infamous commander of the Revolutionary Army, Yonda Thomas (Seriously Single) as Igaram, the captain of the Alabasta royal guard, and James Hiroyuki Liao (Bones) as Ipponmatsu, the owner of an arms shop.

Netflix also presented two members of the Baroque Works: a pirate called Mr. O played by Joe Manganiello (True Blood) and the vice president of Baroque Works, Miss All-Sunday, portrayed by Lera Abova (Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin).

Sendhil Ramamurthy (The Flash) was cast to play Nefertari Cobra, the king of Alabasta, located deep in the desert.

Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) will play fan-favorite Dr Kureha, the elderly and eccentric woman some call a witch. Her colleague, Dr Hiriluk, a complicated figure, will be portrayed by Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent).

However, that’s not all.

The villainous Smoker, the marine teased in the season 1 finale, will be portrayed by Callum Kerr (Monarch). Julia Rehwald (Fear Street) has been cast as Tashigi, a talented swordsman and member of Smoker’s crew.

Wapol, the former ruler of the Drum Kingdom and now a pirate, will be played by Rob Colletti (The Many Saints of Newark). Ty Keogh has joined the cast as Dalton, the new king of the Drum.

The second season’s cast will also include Clive Russell , known for Game of Thrones. The actor will play Crocus. He’s an old doctor, overseer of the Twin Cape Lighthouse, and caretaker of the whale Laboon.

Brendan Murray , who starred in Warrior and Raised by Wolves, will play Brogy the Red Ogre, co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates.

Werner Coetser will star as Dorry the Blue Ogre, Brogy’s brother and co-captain of their bunch.

Netflix has also chosen four actors to portray villains from the crime syndicate known as Baroque Works.

David Dastmalchian , the star of the horror Late Night With the Devil, will play Mr. 3, also known as “Loan Shark” Galdino.

Camrus Johnson , who you may remember from Batwoman, will star as Mr 5, also known as Gem of the Border.

Jazzara Jaslyn , known from the Warrior series, will play Miss Valentine, an officer agent also known as Mikita.

Daniel Lasker , who appeared in Raised by Wolves, has been cast as Mr 9, a young agent who likes to wear a golden crown.

Is there a trailer for One Piece season 2?

During this year’s One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo, Netflix finally released a first teaser for season 2:

Will there be a season 3 of One Piece?

Yes – Netflix has already green-lit One Piece for season 3, even though season 2 hasn’t been released yet. The news itself isn’t a big surprise, given that the manga has many volumes and that this show was so popular.

The production for the third season will kick off this autumn in Cape Town, South Africa. However we don’t know when the next instalment will premiere. Season 2 will drop on Netflix in 2026, three years after season 1. If there is another three-year gap, then 2029 could be the year we get One Piece season 3.

Note that this is only a prediction, and we have to wait for the official date announcement from Netflix, which will come after the season 2 release.

According to the latest news, Netflix has cast Cole Escola as Bon Clay , a member of the Baroque Works gang and a fan-favourite villain. By eating a devil fruit, he can take on the face and body of anyone he has ever touched in his life. Cole Escola is a comedian, actor, singer, and playwright, who is best known for writing and starring in the Oh, Mary! play on Broadway.

In season 3, Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the show.
