  • OnePlus exec confirms higher refresh rate
  • Phone to come in threes colours
  • Certification appearance confirms fast wired charging

A whole heap of details concerning the forthcoming OnePlus 15 smartphone have emerged, both from official and less than official sources, and one spec in particular seems somewhat superfluous.

First things first, President of OnePlus China, Li Jie, has taken to local social network Weibo to confirm the rumours that the OnePlus 15 will indeed feature a 165Hz display.

Every manufacturer seems to be having a pop at Apple right now, in a bid to piggyback off the attention surrounding the iPhone 17 launch, and OnePlus is no different.

“Welcome to Apple’s ‘High Refresh Era’”, writes Li Jie, in reference to the iPhone 17 finally adding a 120Hz ProMotion display to the base model.

Of course, there’s a twist to this well-wishing: “Today, I have an announcement: OnePlus will once again lead the industry, ushering in a new ‘Ultra-High Refresh Era’!”

While he doesn’t spell it out, this would seem to confirm previous rumours that a 165Hz refresh rate is incoming with the OnePlus 15.

Will that make a huge difference to the experience? In my own experience on phones like the Motorola Edge 40 Pro , no it won’t, but we’ll see. OnePlus has always optimised its UI to feel extremely fluid at 120Hz, so maybe it can make further gains that other manufacturers have been unable to.

OnePlus 15 colours and charging speed

Heading back to yesterday, established leaker Digital Chat Station claimed that the OnePlus 15 would ship in three colours: Original Sand Dune (also described as Titanium), Absolute Black, and Mist Purple.

The former will weigh 211g, while the latter two finishes will be a little heavier at 215g.

This follows on from another big reveal around a week ago, when the OnePlus 15 appeared in TÜV certification . This confirmed that the new phone would have support for 120W wired charging – a major upgrade on the 100W of the OnePlus 13 .

Prior to this, a Geekbench 6 outing for the phone suggested that it’ll come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip and 16GB of RAM. It’s going to be quite the spec.
