Google has given us our first official look at the Pixel 10 Pro Fold foldable phone around a week before its big unveiling.
The world of leaks and internet rumours has robbed the August 20 Pixel 10 launch – like every other major phone announcement – of much of its lustre.
It makes a certain amount of sense, then, that Google has just shared a teaser video on X for arguably the most exciting phone of the bunch, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
What’s the Pixel 10 Pro Fold reveal tells us
The 30 second video doesn’t offer much – and perhaps it’s just my attention-deficient brain, but does it feel a little drawn out to you? – but it does give us two good looks at the phone itself.
First we get a view of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s opened screen – though it is noted that the screen itself is simulated. There isn’t much to be gleaned from thus view. It looks a lot like the inside of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold , unsurprisingly.
Then, towards the end of the video, we see the back of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at a slight angle. This would appear to be the phone in its rumoured Moonstone colour.
Again, the similarity to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, including the same somewhat discordant camera module design.
Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about this teaser is what isn’t being highlighted. We don’t get any sort of view accentuating the thinness of the foldable.
This is evidently because, for all the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s likely strengths (category-first IP68 certification and Qi2 compatibility, superb cameras, decent battery size), it’s going to be quite a big chunkier than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 .
There could very well be a stark choice come the end of the month – do you want your full-sized foldable to be as easy to wield as a ‘normal’ phone, or to be as feature-complete as a ‘normal’ phone?
