We now know exactly what Google’s Pixel 9a mid-range smartphone is going to look like thanks to a batch of leaked renders.

After yesterday brought a glut of official case renders , today’s leak contains the real thing.

Android Headlines has published official renders of the Pixel 9a from almost all angles, just over a month out from the phone’s rumoured launch.

What does the Pixel 9a leak show?

The leaked renders show the Pixel 9a in all four of its colour variants – Peony, Iris, Obsidian, and Porcelain. All four colours get their time in the sun with high-quality renders of the phone from multiple angles, front to back.

We don’t see the top and bottom edges of the phone, but that’s pretty much all that’s been left to the imagination here.

The shots serve to confirm that the Pixel 9a will look very much like the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro , with iPhone-style flat edges and rounded corners. However, they also confirm the one point of difference that’s been widely tipped.

With the Pixel 9a, out will go Google’s prominent camera bar and in will come a smaller and more subtle camera module that sits almost flush with the back of the phone. Said camera is also confined to one corner of the phone, with no contrasting metal surround.

Google has already taken the first steps to move on from the width-spanning camera visor of the Pixel 8 class (and earlier) with the Pixel 9’s more contained module. Now the Pixel 9a looks set to complete the transformation.

An image also implies you’ll get a SIM-removal tool and a USB-C charging cable in the box but no charger, as normal.

What else do we know about the Pixel 9a?

The article points out that the Pixel 9a will be a little larger than the Pixel 8a , with dimensions of 154 x 73 x 8.9mm. The good news is that this will seemingly facilitate a larger 5100mAh battery, which is bigger even than that of the Pixel 9 Pro XL .

The charging provision will apparently remain the same though, with 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging. The former isn’t too speedy, especially for such a large cell, but the latter provision remains relatively rare among the sub-£500 class of phones.

Google will likely stick with its Tensor G4 processor from the rest of the Pixel 9 line-up, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the base model. Reports suggest that there’ll be a similar 6.1-inch OLED display to the Pixel 8a.

We’re expecting Google to announce the Pixel 9a on 19 March, with availability set for a week later on 26 March.

The question now is what’s left to show?
