Samsung just made some seriously bold claims about its new full-sized foldable phone , the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
We don’t know if Samsung’s going to call its next premium foldable smartphone the Samsung Galaxy Fold Ultra or not (probably not), but we do know that it’s intent on making it an ‘Ultra’ experience.
Last week the company issued a slightly odd blog post talking about how its next full-sized foldable was going to represent the “Next Chapter of Ultra”.
Now the company has just issued another one , this time outlining some of the ways in which its next Fold device is going to be the best on the market.

Samsung
Thin, Light and Built To Last
The above blog title says it all, really. Samsung is promising that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – or whatever it turns out to be called – will be “the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet “.
It’s worth emphasising that Samsung isn’t saying this is going to be the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable it has ever made. The choice of language seems to imply that it’s going to trump all of its rivals too.
That would mean a foldable phone that’s going to be thinner than the Oppo Find N5 (4.2mm when open, 8.9mm when closed). That would represent a huge advance on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (5.6mm and 12.1mm respectively) if true.

It would also imply that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is going to be even lighter than the 219g Vivo X Fold 3. Again, this would be quite the feat given that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239g. Indeed, even the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs 218g.
Of course, both of those rival foldables have limited availability, so Samsung could always squeeze out of any direct comparisons with its own globally-available effort.
Samsung also throws in that its next-gen foldable is going to be meticulously crafted and built to last. That latter point is open to interpretation – we’re not expecting Samsung to have cracked the code on proper dust resistance, though we can dream.
