  • Samsung Galaxy S26 range appears in certification
  • Reveals no change to wired charging provision
  • Only 25W for Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge

Samsung is hotly tipped to go ‘Pro’ with its next flagship smartphone refresh, ditching the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ for a Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge.

However, it seems the charging spec for these new more premium phones won’t be receiving an upgrade to suit.

After a well-established tipster reported last week that Samsung would be sticking with sluggish 25W wired charging for its new phones, we’ve received something approaching confirmation.

Leaker ZionsAnvin has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to point out that the entire Samsung Galaxy S26 series has appeared on China’s 3C regulator.

This listing reveals that while the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra supports 10V 4.5A or 15V 3A – in other words, 45W – charging, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and Edge only support up to 9V 2.77A – or 25W.

The charge against Samsung

That’s exactly the same as the current Samsung Galaxy 25 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge , which is a bit of a problem in our books.

In our reviews of both of those phones, we cited slow charging as one of the main negative points. It’s just not what you want to see, especially when you’re paying £1,100 (in the case of the Galaxy S25 Edge) for a phone.

The issue only becomes more pronounced when you factor in the recently announced iPhone 17 range, which has finally bumped up its peak charging speeds. Pair any of the iPhone 17 models with one of Apple’s new 40W chargers , and you can expect a 0 to 50% charge time of just 20 minutes – that’s 50% faster than those Samsung rivals.

Leaked renders suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro is going to look a lot like the Galaxy S25, thought it should have a larger 6.3-inch display, a meatier 4,300mAh battery, Qi2 charging, and an upgraded 50MP ultra-wide camera.
