Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: In summary
- Samsung’s follow-up to its Apple Watch Ultra rival
- Didn’t arrive at Unpacked July 2025
- It could be another year before the Ultra 2 launches
It’s been a year since Samsung unveiled the first Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatch, giving us effectively the Google Wear OS answer to the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Speculation led to the common belief that Samsung would launch a new generation model at its big Unpacked July 2025 event but that wasn’t the case.
Rather than a completely new model, the firm unveiled a refreshed edition of the original featuring a new colourway and double the storage.
It means the wait for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 goes on and could be another year away, putting the device on a two-year refresh cycle. Though this could mean Samsung is taking longer in order to introduce more meaningful and exciting upgrades.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 be released?
In summary
- A no-show at Samsung Unpacked event on 9 July
- Galaxy Watch 8 series devices launched instead, as well as a refreshed Ultra
- The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 might now arrive in 2026
Though all eyes were on Unpacked for a new Ultra model, eager fans were disappointed.
Granted, there was a new Ultra of sorts, but in a similar fashion to the black Apple Watch Ultra 2, it was just a 2025 edition of the original Galaxy Watch Ultra coming with 64GB of storage and a new Titanium Blue colour.
This effectively hits reset on the rumours for the Ultra 2 and our thinking now is that Samsung might well wait for July 2026 to introduce it.
Of course, we’ll update this article with any new rumours on the subjects as and when they arrive.
For now, the Galaxy Watch 8 series are the only truly new Samsung smartwatches.

How much will the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 cost?
In summary
- Rumour suggests a price of €699
- Converted to pounds and dollars, it suggests the price will stay the same as the original
- US price could, however, be affected by tariffs
The first Galaxy Watch was expensive in comparison to Samsung’s non-Ultra Galaxy Watch smartwatches, brandishing a price tag that put it in around the cost of picking up the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and creeping up towards the cost of Garmin’s AMOLED-toting Fenix 8 outdoor watches.
According to the Techmaniacs (link above), the next Ultra will be priced at 699 Euros, which when simply converted, would suggest a price of somewhere around £599 in the UK and well over $700 in the US.
That would seem to indicate it’ll stick around the same price as the first Ultra and still cost less than an Apple Watch Ultra 2.
It’s possible this leaked pricing relates to the refreshed 2025 Ultra, however, so we’ll keep an eye out for new rumours.
What specs and features will the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 have?
In summary
- Back to unknowns following the Ultra 2025 refresh
- Tech Advisor hopes for a rotating crown, new button layout and a smaller case option
- Expect at least 64GB of storage and possibly a new processor
Now we know Samsung has refreshed the Galaxy Watch Ultra for 2025 with more storage and a Titanium Blue colour (below left), we’re wiping the slate clean for Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 rumours regarding the design and specs.
The previously leaked images and details were all in reference to the 2025 model rather than a completely new generation.
We do expect, when it does arrive, that the Ultra 2 will have a similar design and hope that Samsung finally adds a rotating crown as well as a smaller case size (though that might be more of a pipedream).
We can certainly expect the same 64GB storage as the 2025 model now offers and while this year’s models all still come with the Exynos W1000 processor, if the Ultra 2 launches in 2026, that should be enough time for Samsung to upgrade the chipset.
As and when new rumours and leaks land, we’ll be sure to add them here.

Is a new Galaxy Watch coming out in 2025?
Absolutely, Samsung launched a trio of new Galaxy Watch devices in July 2025, including the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Will there be a Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2?
It’s still expected that Samsung will eventually launch a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, but it might not happen in 2025.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 waterproof
We’ll have to wait for Samsung to officially confirm details, but the watch will almost certainly be waterproof and dustproof. Ultra smartwatches are designed to be incredibly durable and the original Galaxy Watch Ultra holds IP68, 10ATM and MIL-STD-810H military ratings and certifications so it would be odd if Samsung downgraded any of these for the next model.
