Samsung appears to be skipping the Galaxy Tab A10 this year, but there should still be a follow-up to one of our favourite budget tablets of recent years.
A Samsung tablet with the model number SM-X135N has just appeared in certification on Safety Korea . The listing includes a photograph of the compact tablet, screen-off and positioned alongside a pair of rulers.
This would appear to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab A10, but an X post by tipster Abhishek Yadav suggests otherwise.
As you can see, the claim is that the Galaxy Tab A11 and a larger A11+ variant will be coming to India in September.
This could very well line up with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 series, which is also predicted for around September.
Where did the A10 go?
As to why Samsung would skip the Galaxy Tab A10 name and go straight to the Galaxy Tab A11, we can only speculate.
It’s not unheard of for Samsung to skip forward with its nomenclature when it wants to neaten things up. It did so with its flagship Galaxy S smartphone series in 2020, moving from the Galaxy S9 to the Galaxy S20 in order to match the year.
Safety Korea
Perhaps it wants to do something similar, albeit on a much smaller scale, in order to sync up the naming of its wider tablet family. Which does make us wonder where the rumoured Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite fits into things, but that’s by the by.
Given that Samsung only tends to update its A series every other year, there’s perhaps more impetus for the company to release a tablet with ‘up to date’ numbering.
Why we’re interested
There’s a very simple reason why we’re so interested in the next Galaxy Tab A device – these are arguably the best budget tablets on the market.
We gave the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 a glowing 4.5 out of 5 review in 2023, calling it “one the best value tablets on the market.” The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ isn’t bad either.
If you’re in the market for a tablet, but only have a £200 budget, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 looks likely to be a prime candidate. We should know more in September.
