Samsung’s smartwatch range is the latest to get the FE (Fan Edition) treatment. The Galaxy Watch FE was rumoured to be coming as a budget-friendly option for your wrist and that’s exactly what it is.

However, Samsung has decided to launch it ahead of its next big Unpacked event which is rumoured to be taking place on 10 July. This is likely to give more limelight for flagship devices such as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 , Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Watch 7 series.

Though there was some debate about whether it would be called the Galaxy Watch 4 (2024) or Galaxy Watch FE, Samsung has sensibly gone for the latter and here’s everything you need to know about the new smartwatch .

When will the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE be released?

Now the wearable has been officially unveiled we can tell you that the Galaxy Watch FE will be available globally this summer.

In the UK it will go on sale 21 June via ‘select channels’.

According to multiple US publications, it will go on sale there on 24 June with an LTE model arriving much later in October.

How much does Samsung Galaxy Watch FE cost?

The Galaxy Watch FE costs £199/$199 for the regular model and $249 for the LTE option.

What new features will be in the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE include?

Samsung calls the Galaxy Watch FE “ideal for those looking to begin their journey to improve their overall wellness with comprehensive insights.” and to that end, it has many features from the flagship Galaxy Watch devices but in a more affordable package, with a tweaked design.

The first thing to note is that the Galaxy Watch FE is only available in a 40mm size. You can get it in three colours: Black, Pink and Silver.

The firm says it features a ‘one-click’ band to make switching straps easier and new watch bands will include a blue option complete with blue and orange stitching.

On the front is a Sapphire Crystal glass cover with ‘superior durability’ and protection against scratches. This covers the 1.2in Super AMOLED screen which has always-on capabilities.

It weighs 26.6g without a strap and has both IP68 and 5ATM dust and waterproof rating.

Naturally, health and fitness are a focus and the Galaxy Watch FE has Samsung’s ‘advanced BioActive Sensor’ which comprises of various sensors including an optical heart rate sensor.

The watch supports sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, blood pressure, ECG and more.

It offers more than 100 different workouts to track and runners get ‘advanced running analysis’ and the Personalised Heart Rate Zone will help you set goals based on your level of fitness.

Other features include Find My Phone, Camera Controller and Samsung Wallet.
