The Samsung Galaxy Tri-fold foldable could launch as soon as this week, according to fresh reports from South Korea.
Samsung had already confirmed that its ambitious double-hinged device was set for release this year, but the previous prediction of a 29 September unveiling fell wide of the mark.
Now we have received a strong indication that it could well be imminent.
Expect the Tri-fold very soon
The Korea Herald is reporting that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Tri-fold at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju, which is taking place this week, commencing Friday 31 October.
It’s a little less definite on when we might actually see the device in shops, and who will get to buy one. So far, all the publication will commit to is that the device is “slated for mass production”, and that it is “set to hit the shelves later this year”.
Reliable leaker Evan Blass recently opine on the subject, claiming that he didn’t think it was likely that the Tri-fold would appear outside of Asia.
Huawei was first to market with its Mate XT triple foldable (pictured below), which we were quite fond of.

The publication also offers a brief summary of what we can expect to see from the Samsung Galaxy Tri-fold. It’ll pack a standard 6.5-inch cover screen, and a whopping great tablet-style 10-inch main display when unfolded.
It’s been rumoured that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset will power the device, which isn’t ideal. The chip is right at the end of its time at the forefront of mobile technology. Indeed, it’s no spoiler to reveal that we’re currently testing out phones that use the chip’s successor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
As the report points out, the Galaxy Tri-fold is rumoured to feature a 200Mp main camera, much like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 . It could also go big on the telephoto front, with a 100x hybrid zoom function.

What and who is the Tri-Fold for?
We’re interested to see how Samsung optimises its One UI software for that huge internal screen. Obviously it already has experience with such a form factor thanks to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 and co.
The publication calls Samsung’s launch as “a bold step towards redefining the boundaries between smartphones, tablets and laptops”.
We previously heard it claimed that Samsung would only launch the Galaxy Tri-fold in severely limited numbers in its home country only. If true, it seems more like Samsung is tentatively dipping its toe into a new sub-section of a foldable market that still hasn’t entirely taken off.
Still, some of us are extremely excited for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tri-fold. Who knows? Short of Apple joining the market, this could be the biggest thing that could happen to foldables right now.
