This weekend was a big one for the DC Universe, with the virtual event DC FanDome bringing announcements and trailers in the worlds of movies, TV, games and comics.
Keeping track of everything announced isn’t easy, so we’ve rounded up the biggest things revealed at the event to make your life a little simpler.
For other superhero news, take a look at out definitive guide to Marvel’s phases 4 and 5 .
The Batman trailer
Undoubtedly the biggest thing revealed at the event was a full feature length trailer for The Batman – something quite surprising considering that only 25% of the movie has been shot.
Directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, The Batman will follow Bruce Wayne in his earlier days. It will have a ‘detective’ theme throughout and appears to be a lot grittier than previous film adaptations. The movie will also feature appearances from other Gotham haunters, including Catwoman, the Riddler and Penguin.
Before the event, we also got a look at the official logo and some artwork:
Excited to share the very first look at our official #TheBatman logo, and some very cool additional #DCFanDome artwork by the amazing @jimlee — see more of #TheBatman at the #DCFanDome global event in the Hall of Heroes this Saturday, 8/22! #TheBatman #DCFanDome #ForTheFans pic.twitter.com/ApfngNbyor — Matt Reeves (@mattreevesLA) August 20, 2020
Wonder Woman 1984 trailer
The most imminent DC film to head our way is the sequel to Wonder Woman, and this brand-new trailer gave us a full look at the villain of the film, Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig. We also got to see Diana’s (played by Gal Gadot) full gold battle armour, and Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine) trying to adjust to the eighties lifestyle.
Justice League Snyder Cut trailer
The Suicide Squad sneak peek and villains reveal
Whilst we didn’t get an official full trailer for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (the sequel to the 2016 film), we did get a behind-the-scenes featurette and an introduction to who will be making up the squad this time around.
Naturally, we’ll be seeing the likes of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), as well as a whole host of new faces that include Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena) and Blackguard (Pete Davidson).
Gotham Knights trailer
Gotham Knights is a brand new open-world video game from Warner Bros. Games Montreal, and the trailer showed us playable characters including Batgirl and Robin and the villains of the story – the Court of Owls.
Black Adam teaser trailer
Whilst this isn’t an official trailer for Black Adam (starring Dwayne Johnson), this concept teaser was created by DC Comics Jim Lee and artist BossLogic, and shows us what Johnson will look like in the superhero garb. In the panel, Johnson also revealed that the film will star the Justice Society of America, made up of Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher.

After the news that both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton would be reprising their roles as Batman in The Flash movie, we finally got a glimpse at the new costume for the speedy superhero – as played by Ezra Miller. This film will be one that will set the groundwork for multiverses within DC.
