  • Samsung Project Moohan rumoured to launch in less than two weeks
  • Pre-registration will open a week in advance
  • Could be a Korea only launch to start with

Although Samsung’s Project Moohan, the first Android XR wearable, was announced way back in January, it might finally have a launch date.

It feels like we’ve been waiting years rather than months, but Android XR is nearly here, it seems. After various delays and the most recently rumoured launch date of 29 September having passed, there’s another date on the cards.

Well, two actually, as ChosunBiz reports that Samsung will begin pre-registration for the mixed reality headset on 15 October .

That’s less than two weeks away and then the Korean firm will supposedly launch Project Moohan on 22 October .

It’s worth noting that this appears to apply to Korea only, where the headset may launch first before other markets or a global launch at a later date. We still await official word from Samsung.

Samsung has been showing off the device at various tech events, most recently the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit last week. However, it was still static in a glass box (see above) and there was no news about it at the event.

Developed with Google and Qualcomm, it runs on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, but the event was focused on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for phones and tablets.

Although Android XR is nearly upon us, Project Moohan isn’t likely to be for everyone. Rumours suggest a price between KRW2,500,000 and KRW4,000,000, placing it around £1,324-£2,100 or $1,800-$2,900 converted.

This is cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro but still far more than most people will be willing to splash out.

The more mainstream Android XR devices will be in the form of AR (augmented reality) smart glasses – even Google says so – to rival the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) , which cost £379/$379. However, details on these are still light.

Google has developed a pair with Xreal called Project Aura, but they might not go on sale to consumers until sometime in 2026.
