Samsung may have listened to the biggest criticism of its Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone , if reports are to be believed, yet could still make its successor even thinner.
Well known tipster Ice Universe has taken to X to claim that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge will address our main complaint with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge .
In our 7 out of 10 review of Samsung’s super-slim flagship phone earlier in the year, our mobile editor Anyron Copeman listed “Mediocre battery life” as the leading issue.
It’s not hard to see where things went wrong for this sleek new phone type. In order to construct a handset with a tiny 5.8mm waistline, Samsung was forced to compromise on battery capacity.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge features a 3900mAh battery, which is even smaller than that of the compact Samsung Galaxy S25 .
With Samsung curiously unwilling to commit to silicon-carbon battery technology, which enabled the normally-proportioned OnePlus 13 to hit 6000mAh, it made for a phone that couldn’t really be relied upon to last through a long day of heavy usage.
If Ice Universe is correct, as they often are, then Samsung could be ready to relent.
Does this “new battery material technology” refer to the aforementioned silicon-carbon technology adopted by many of Samsung’s rivals? We don’t know, but it seems like a safe bet – especially if the phone is set to be even slimmer.
Samsung pushing the Edge but not the Ultra
While this is good news for Edge fans, Samsung seems frustratingly unwilling to show similar love to the rest of its flagship smartphone range.
Separate to this news, Ice Universe posted the claim that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra would retain the same 5000mAh battery that has been powering the flagship series for years.
It’s not all bad news for Ultra fans, though. Yesterday we reported that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra would finally exceed the 45W charging rate limit imposed for several consecutive years at this point.
