Back in April, OnePlus introduced its newest mid-range phones under the Ace series in China. However, outside its homeland it’s known as the “Nord” series.
Today, it has introduced the Nord 4, the global version of the Ace 3V and a very interesting addition to its smartphone lineup.
Combining an elegant design with top tier performance and affordable price, the OnePlus Nord 4 aims to beat the likes of the Galaxy A55 or the Pixel 8a .

When will the OnePlus Nord 4 be released?
The OnePlus Ace 3V was released on 21 March 2024 in China. The global version of the phone, named the Nord 4, was unveiled on 16 July 2024 .
Pre-orders are live now via the OnePlus website , ahead of the phone going on sale on 8 August .

It’s not available in the US, though that’s not surprising – none of the models above had launched there either.
How much will the OnePlus Nord 4 cost?
The OnePlus Nord 4 costs £429/€499 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. You can also opt for the more expensive version with 16GB of RAM, which will cost you £529/€599.

What specs and features will the OnePlus Nord 4 have?
As OnePlus officially introduced the Nord 4 globally, we got to know all aspects of the device.
Design
The OnePlus Nord 4 marks a return to the classic all-metal unibody design, aside from the plastic, reflective panel around the cameras.
A single piece of aluminium is almost unheard of on 5G phones, and means the Nord 4’s build differs significantly from that of the Nord 3 . To achieve this, OnePlus says it has integrated compact, U-shaped antennas and strategically positioned pillars within the phone’s rear cover.
What’s more, the Nord 4’s body promises to offer both durability and a premium feel with an IP65 rating . That means it’s fully protected against dust and can survive “protection against low-pressure jets of water from any direction”.

The Nord 4 comes in three finishes, collectively known as the Nordtones trio.
The first is ‘Obsidian Midnight’, the classic brushed gunmetal design that you see in photos. The second is ‘Mercurial Silver’, featuring a matt silver finish with a 2D laser-etched design. The final variant is ‘Oasis Green’, a vibrant two-tone colour scheme.
Display
The OnePlus Nord 4 features a 6.74-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2772 × 1240) and 450 pixels per inch for detailed and vivid visuals. The screen supposedly achieves a peak brightness of 2150 nits.
The display is equipped with ProXDR technology, which enhances the brightness and clarity of images and videos by analysing and adjusting them according to the surrounding light conditions.

Additionally, the AquaTouch technology is also there to keep the display responsive even in the rain, meaning the Nord 4 should be suitable for all weather conditions.
Performance
At the heart of the OnePlus Nord 4 is the octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 . Users can choose from configurations with 12- or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, plus storage options of 256- or 512GB using UFS 4.0 technology.

The Nord 4 also includes a ‘Trinity Engine’, which optimises the CPU, RAM and ROM through AI to maintain peak performance and efficiency over time.
This includes CPU-Vita for balancing performance and power consumption, RAM-Vita for accelerating memory management and ROM-Vita for reducing storage fragmentation.
Cameras
The main camera is a 50Mp Sony LYT-600 sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and advanced RAW algorithms, which aims to deliver high-quality images.
Additionally, the ultrawide camera features an 8Mp lens with a 112-degree field of view. The front camera is a 16Mp sensor that’s supposedly been optimised for portrait selfies.

The camera system also features AI enhancements like the upcoming AI group selfie, which adjusts the eyes of subjects in group photos to ensure everyone is looking at the camera. It’ll be added in a future software update, though it sounds a lot like Google’s Best Take .
Battery & charging
The Nord 4 is powered by a 5,500mAh battery that supports 100W SUPERVOOC fast charging. According to OnePlus, this allows the phone to charge from 0 to 100% in just 28 minutes.
However, no charger is included in the box, and there’s no support for wireless charging.

The battery is designed to last through over 1,600 charging cycles, supposedly retaining more than 80% of its capacity even after four years of use. The Battery Health Engine, powered by AI, is also there to optimise charging habits to prolong battery life.
Software & connectivity
The Nord 4 runs on Android 14 with OxygenOS 14.1 skin. OnePlus promises four years of software updates and two additional years of security updates, making it the cheapest phone to offer six years of security patches.
The phone is also designed to maintain its performance over time, with fluency testing by TÜV SÜD supposedly guaranteeing smooth operation for the full six years.
Elsewhere, you also get an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, NFC for contactless payments and and IR blaster for controlling compatible devices.
