Marvel Phase Five order

You’d be forgiven for being confused about which series and movies are still included in Phase Five of the MCU, as many things have been shifted and delayed.

Here’s a quick summary of what has been released so far (the movies are set in bold):

  • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 3
  • Secret Invasion
  • Loki season 2
  • The Marvels
  • What If…? season 2 (2023)
  • Echo
  • Deadpool & Wolverine
  • What If…? season 3 (2024)
  • Agatha All Along

And here’s what’s to come:

  • Captain America: Brave New World (14 February 2025)
  • Daredevil: Born Again (4 March 2025)
  • Thunderbolts* (2 May 2025)
  • Ironheart (24 June 2025)

Daredevil: Born Again was originally set to release in the spring of 2024. However, the show underwent a massive creative overhaul – with some writers being dropped by Disney.

Blade was originally in this lineup, but has since been delayed indefinitely. More on that below.

What films and series are left in MCU Phase 5?

If you want to know more about the upcoming releases, then we’ve got some quick summaries for you.

Captain America: Brave New World

Cinema release date: 14 February 2025

Starring: Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford

Captain America will get a fourth instalment , with Anthony Mackie taking up the shield once again after his outing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The subtitle was changed from New World Order to Brave New World on 6 June 2023.

The former was quite interesting, as this organisation is led by none other than the Red Skull in the comics. Could we see the return of another iconic villain?

Daredevil: Born Again

Disney+ release date: 4 March 2025

Starring: Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio

The Netflix Marvel series Daredevil is getting a reboot , with Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin back in the roles of hero and villain respectively. The trailer reveals that Fisk has climbed to new levels of power in New York City, while Matt must face off against a new deadly threat. Karen and Foggy will also make a return to the show.

Thunderbolts*

Cinema release date: 2 May 2025

Starring: Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko

Thunderbolts* sees a group of antiheroes assembled by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to take on a new threat. The asterisk in the title is intriguing, as many suspect that the real title of the film is Dark Avengers, a well-known faction from the comics.

Ironheart

Disney+ release date: 24 June 2025

Starring: Dominique Thorne

Ironheart follows Riri Williams, a genius young inventor who creates her own suits of armour, just like those worn in the Iron Man movies. We already met Riri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so this series may give us more of an idea on how she creates her tech, and how her new contacts in Wakanda help her on her superhero journey with Tony Stark out of the picture.

Ironheart - 1

The third Ant-Man film once again follows Scott Lang, who is adjusting to his life post-Thanos and building a relationship with his daughter, Cassie. However, he and his family are in way over their heads when they get dragged into the Quantum Realm and come face-to-face with Kang the Conqueror.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania  - 2

Disney

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Starring: Christ Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chukwudi Iwuji

James Gunn is back in the Marvel fold for his third Guardians movie, long delayed thanks to Disney firing and then re-hiring him. Vol. 3 follows on directly from the Guardians Holiday Special and will be the final outing for the gang as they face off against High Evolutionary.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  - 3

Disney

Secret Invasion

Starring: Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke

Nick Fury is back, and is joined by Ben Mendelsohn’s Skrull Talos from Captain Marvel. This Disney+ series explores one of the comics’ iconic arcs: the Skrull secret invasion of Earth, when shapeshifters surreptitiously replaced countless political figures across the planet in a bid to take it over.

Secret Invasion  - 4

Disney

Loki season 2

Starring: Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Ke Huy Quan, Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Loki was the first Disney+ series to get a confirmed second season. The Trickster god returns to the TVA, where the timelines are thrown upside down after Sylvie killed He Who Remains – unleashing Kang upon the multiverse.

Loki season 2  - 5

Disney

The Marvels

Starring: Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Zawe Ashton

Captain Marvel’s second outing is directed by Nia DaCosta – the creator behind the 2021 Candyman reboot. Brie Larson is back in the lead role, but she’s joined by the new Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau following on from her appearance in WandaVision. The film follows the trio as they keep swapping places. They must team up to find out the reason why.

The Marvels  - 6

Disney

What If…? season 2/season 3

Starring: Jeffrey Wright

The animated series What If…? is back for a second season, with more alternative storylines from characters across the Marvel universe as told by The Watcher. This series has stories about Steve Rogers working for the enemy, Iron Man and Gamora teaming up and more.

What If...? season 2 - 7

Disney

Echo

Starring: Alaqua Cox, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, Vincent D’Onofrio

Echo is a character that was introduced in Hawkeye, and is the first Native American hero in the MCU and one of the few deaf characters in the franchise. Maya struggles to find her own path after separating her relationship with her so-called ‘uncle’, Wilson Fisk.

Echo - 8

Disney

Deadpool & Wolverine

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Matthew MacFadyen

The third Deadpool film merges with the MCU, and that isn’t the only multiversal crossover that happens. Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Wolverine from the X-Men franchise. This all happens because of the TVA, an organisation that looks after all the different branches of time.

Agatha All Along

Starring: Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke

Agatha Harkness was first introduced in WandaVision and has a rich history to explore as a witch. After being trapped by Wanda, she breaks free from a spell but must walk the Witches’ Road to restore her powers. However, the journey is a perilous one, so she must assemble a coven to reach her goal.
