We all know that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is going to be an incredibly thin smartphone , but there could be something even more impressive about its slender form factor.
Samsung teased the launch of a slimmer Galaxy S25 model at its big Unpacked event in January with the S25 Ultra and other models, but according to leaker Ice Universe, there’s something else we’re missing about it.
“S25 edge is lighter than S25”, the reliable tipster announced on a recent X (formerly Twitter) post .
Why this is such big news
‘Skinny phone is also light’ might not sound like a particularly startling claim, but let’s just consider the context for a second.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is tipped to have a full-sized display, which likely places it in the 6.7- to 6.8-inch region. Despite this large footprint, the Galaxy S25 Edge is said here to be lighter than a phone with a teeny-tiny 6.2-inch display.
Not only that, but the Samsung Galaxy S25 is one of the slenderest flagship phones on the market right now at a mere 162g. I’ve been using the phone quite a bit over recent weeks, and while its design is somewhat samey, its lightness most definitely stands out from the crowd.
Those who find modern phones too big and heavy could find the Edge to be a real boon.

What else are we expecting from the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
Despite being extremely light and of course skinny (potentially just 6.4mm thick), the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge should pack some impressive specs.
We’re hearing that the phone will feature a 200Mp main camera, much like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This could be backed by a 50Mp ultra-wide, but likely no telephoto.
There should be no compromise on power, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite found in the rest of the Galaxy S25 range reportedly coming over to the Edge.
Don’t expect phenomenal stamina, though. Reports suggest the battery could have a capacity of just 3900mAh, which would be less than the Galaxy S25.
Recent rumours suggest that we’ll be seeing the Galaxy S25 Edge some time in the second quarter of the year, so potentially as soon as April. Stay tuned for more as we hear it.
