Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge took a long time to arrive after being teased at Unpacked in January, eventually launching in May to much fanfare but the outlook for the Galaxy S26 Edge doesn’t look so great.
Despite plenty of hype and interest around the S25 Edge leading up to its release, it hasn’t gone down too well with fans. After a month on sale, the super slim phone’s performance is “below expectations”, according to The Elec .
Low demand for the phone has caused Samsung to dramatically scale back production, which is unusual so soon, and could impact the upcoming Galaxy S26 family line-up.
It was going to replace the Plus
It was thought the Galaxy S26 Edge could replace the Plus model , meaning the 2026 series would go back down to three phones. However, if sales of the S25 Edge continue to be poor, then Samsung may well rethink its strategy.
This could result in the S26 Edge getting cancelled completely and the firm never releasing a successor. Samsung may have already made this call, though it might be a little too early for that.

Poor demand for the phone could be, in part, due to the launch timing. Samsung released all the other Galaxy S25 phones, such as the S25 Ultra , in February and perhaps kept fans in the dark and waiting too long for the somewhat mysterious S25 Edge.
Samsung kept everyone waiting for the Galaxy Ring , but it was a first-generation device, so not dealing with the same issues.
Or possibly it just misjudged what the market wants. Sure, the S25 Edge is impressive at just 5.8mm thick and 163g, but it comes at the expense of much shorter battery life, slow charging and only two rear cameras.
Is there any hope?
Apple is set to launch a rival in the iPhone 17 Air in September , so this could be a catalyst for this type of device.
If Samsung can adopt silicone carbon battery technology, the S26 Edge could rectify at least one of the big problems of the existing model. A telephoto lens would also help matters.
For now, however, things don’t appear to be very optimistic.
