In summary:

  • Tech Advisor reports that The Celebrity Traitors season two is confirmed following the first series’ record-breaking success, which peaked at 12 million viewers.
  • Rumored cast members include Alison Hammond, Daisy May Cooper, Danny Dyer, and Ruth Jones, who are reportedly in advanced negotiations for the upcoming season.
  • Executive producer Sarah Fay has expressed interest in securing Bob Mortimer, Rylan Clark, Kathy Burke, and Russell T Davies for the highly anticipated return.

The Celebrity Traitors was a huge hit, smashing BBC viewing records left, right and centre. The BBC has confirmed that the finale was watched by an average of over 11 million people, peaking with an audience of 12 million.

And it’s no wonder, with iconic moments such as Alan Carr’s two face-to-face assassinations, Celia Imrie’s farting and banshee wails, and the Faithful being… well, mostly useless for the majority of the game.

Series 4 of the main show is currently keeping us more than entertained but, if you want to know when The Celebrity Traitors will be back, we’ve rounded up everything we know.

Will The Celebrity Traitors return for series 2?

Yes. The BBC today confirmed that The Celebrity Traitors will be returning.

This will come as no surprise to anyone who’s been following discussion around the show. Not only was the series a huge hit but one of the main three Traitors, Jonathan Ross, had already indicated that it would return.

He gave the following quote on his podcast Reel Talk to his co-host and daughter, Honey:

“I know they’re already planning a second celebrity version. I know because I’ve had two celebrity friends of mine call me and say ‘I’ve been approached – is it good to do, is it bad to do?’ So I’m giving them the benefit of my experience, which was that I didn’t enjoy it.”

In addition, executive producer Sarah Fay had hinted to Metro about a second series when discussing potential cast future members (more on that below).

Finally, the BBC has already opened applications for series 5 of the main edition , so we knew that the broadcaster still had faith in the format.

When could The Celebrity Traitors series 2 air?

The BBC has not yet mentioned a release date. However, we can make a prediction based on related information. Series 4 of the main (non-celebrity) show is expected to drop in early 2026, in line with previous instalments.

So, if the show does return and follows the same pattern as this year, it’s likely that The Celebrity Traitors series 2 could air in autumn 2026.

Who could star in The Celebrity Traitors series 2?

While we likely won’t hear an official cast list for a while, the Super TV account on X claims that Alison Hammond, Daisy May Cooper, Danny Dyer and Ruth Jones are in advanced negotiations to appear.

Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper were reported to have pulled out of series 1 last minute, but this is a rumour only based on a second-hand source.

Meanwhile, executive producer Fay responded to the rumours that comedian Bob Mortimer was going to be involved in series 1: “If Bob wanted to do it next year, we would absolutely love it.”

Fay also listed host Rylan Clark , comedian Kathy Burke and Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies on her wish list for the first series, so they could be approached again.

There have been no other concrete rumours beyond speculation. However, some people who have confirmed to have turned down series 1 include actress Miriam Margolyes, author and host Richard Osman, money expert Martin Lewis and The Apprentice star Baroness Karren Brady.

The latter two names cited busy schedules as a reason that they couldn’t take part. Margolyes had never watched the show and had no intention of doing so, while Osman only wanted to do it if he was guaranteed to be a Traitor, which is never an assured thing.

So, it’s probable that they won’t appear in series 2… unless they change their minds after seeing the hype around season one.
