Ahead of the official unveiling of the Realme GT 7, the company has offered a glimpse at a fascinating prototype with potentially phenomenal stamina and epic charging speeds. But will it ever see the light of day here in the UK?

Realme’s global X account has posted an image (via GSMArena ) of a so-called “10000mAh concept phone”. As that label suggests, the key feature of this prototype is a whopping great 10,000mAh battery, alongside rapid 320W wired charging.

For context, the phone with the largest battery on the market at the moment is probably the Nubia Redmagic 10 Pro (pictured below) with its 7,050mAh cell. And that’s a dedicated gaming phone, so hardly a mainstream proposition.

If it’s ‘regular’ phones you’re thinking of, the OnePlus 13 and the Poco X7 Pro with their 6,000mAh batteries spring to mind. Still way shy of this Realme concept phone.

And on the charging tech, Realme has beaten its own record of 240W by some margin. When the flagship Galaxy and Pixel phones from Samsung and Google only have up to 45W wired charging, Realme is leagues ahead.

How did Realme squeeze in such a huge battery?

Realme also issued a two-minute ‘ unboxing video ’ (no idea why a concept phone needs a box either), where marketing chief Chace Xu runs through the phone’s features.

Despite that huge battery, this GT concept phone measures a fairly normal 8.5mm thick, with a weight of just 215g. This is thanks to a material breakthrough from Realme, with the phone using 10% silicon anode.

Besides an extremely dense battery, Realme used a so-called “mini diamonds architecture” for stacking up those components, together with a teeny tiny PCB (printed circuit board).

Realme also claims that this super-dense battery is safe, with a triple security process mitigating potential swelling or damage from dropping.

Why I’m not holding our breath

Of course, the likelihood of this phone ever seeing the light of day here in the UK seems somewhat remote.

For one thing, there’s the whole ‘ concept phone ’ thing – this isn’t a commercially available product, at least for the moment.

Then there’s Realme’s spotty history with UK availability. It officially exited the UK market just over a year ago, only to cautiously return recently with the Realme 14 Pro (pictured at the top) series.

Still, I can’t help but dream. With a 10,000mAh battery onboard, we could be looking at a phone that cracks the two day barrier and enters a third or even fourth day on a single charge.
