The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 could finally put a familiar compact foldable phone weakness to rest if recent rumours are to be believed.
According to fresh claims emerging from China (via GSMArena ), Xiaomi’s forthcoming second-generation compact foldable will pack a 5100mAh battery.
That’s not only significantly bigger than the 4000mAh battery found in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 , and even the 4780mAh cell found in the original Xiaomi Mix Flip , it’s also bigger than many non-foldable flagship phones .
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra , for example, only features a 5000mAh battery.
Why this would represent progress for foldables
While more recent compact foldables have generally exhibited adequate stamina, it’s undoubtedly been the case that battery life hasn’t quite been at the same standard as their non-foldable counterparts.
The reduced internal space brought about by foldable technology has led to smaller batteries being used.
As we’ve seen in the OnePlus 13 , however, silicon-carbon (Si-C) battery tech is enabling manufacturers to cram larger capacity batteries into smaller spaces. The foldable market was always going to be one of the key beneficiaries of this shift, and the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 could be one of the first to reap the rewards.
Indeed, this latest claimed capacity would be significantly smaller than earlier leaks had suggested. We had previously heard that the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 would feature a 5600- or even 5700mAh cell, which would have been quite something.

What else do we know about the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2?
Alongside this fresh battery spec claim, word on the street suggests that we’ll be seeing the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 sometime in the second quarter of 2025. Earlier estimates simply put the date sometime in the first half of the year, so we’re steadily zeroing in.
Earlier spec leaks have claimed that the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 will be thinner (7.6mm) and lighter (190g) than its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mix Flip . It should also feature IPX8 water resistance (so still no breakthrough on that other foldable flaw of dust resistance), and will pack a 6.85-inch ‘1.5K’ LTPO OLED screen.
It’ll run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite , which is set to be the go-to chip for any self-respecting (non-Google) Android flagship phone in 2025.
A pair of 50Mp cameras should finish the package off – one wide, one ultra-wide. The latter would represent a change-up from the original Flip’s telephoto camera.
