We now have an idea of what Samsung’s hotly tipped tri-fold foldable phone is going to be called, and it’s a shocker.
Only joking. It’s going to be called the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. At least, it will if a recently surfaced trademark application pans out.
As spotted by GalaxyClub , Samsung has applied for the use of the name ‘Galaxy Z TriFold’ over in its native South Korea.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that the TriFold name is nailed on. Samsung is merely giving itself the option of using the name, and will likely trademark a number of possibilities ahead of its launch.

Samsung ‘TriFold’ launch date
Talking of that launch, established tipster Ice Universe has taken to Chinese social network Weibo to claim that Samsung will finally unveil its triple-folding foldable in October.
In case you’ve missed the buzz around this new device, Samsung has confirmed that it is working on a triple-folding device to complement the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 .
This new format would supply two hinges rather than one, with three sections of a fold-out display granting a much more uniform wide-screen canvas.

Samsung could be onto something
Our own Anyron recently wrote that this could be the most exciting foldable in quite some time.
The device has previously been referred to as the Samsung Galaxy G Fold, in reference to the way it will fold in on itself as opposed to the Huawei Huawei Mate XT’s Z or S-shaped system.
Samsung is on a bit of foldable roll right now, having recently launched the best foldable phone yet in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. If it could steal a march on (most of) the competition with this new foldable format by the end of 2025, it could really wrap up the year nicely after a slightly drab start with the Galaxy S25 .
